Hooray it's December and that means it's time to start opening our advent calendars!
Since my last post I STILL was not been able to find a US based "protein" inspired advent calendar for Gray. So I busted out my glue gun and got to crafting one!
First things first, I got the goods. Gray is in his "gym rat" era so I wanted have a calendar that wasn't going to derail his diet plan all month long. I went to a few different stores and picked up protein bars, nuts, jerky and other protein packed snacks. Annnd obviously a little bit of candy because, let's be real, the 25th is going to be a day of over consumption so he can take a break from macro counting that day.
Next I sacrificed my fingertips to the glue gun and constructing the actual box. Luckily, in true millenial fashion I had a lot of "good" cardboard boxes lying around. (Why do we all hold on to boxes???)
I didn't get very fancy and just made all the cubbies the same size.
Next I wrapped my goodies and stuffed them into the slots. For me the only day that mattered to remember was the 25th- so I made sure to keep in mind where the candy jackpot was so I could label it "25" later one.
I then took little squares of tissue paper and covered each cubby- this is mostly to give it a more finished look. My thought was that you can punch through the day and pull out your treat. I randomly labeled the squares with number stickers and then finished wrapping my box. I used Christmas wrapping paper which actually turned out great IMO.
And that's it! Overall I'm pretty happy with how I pictured it in my head VS how it turned out.
In other news my Laduree advent calendar arrived. I'm only one day in and I can't wait to open the rest.
The packing itself is gorgeous! (uh oh, another cardboard box I'm going to hold onto)
I'm in my macron-baking-era and couldn't help displaying these Kate Spade earrings and necklace inside the box.
Day 1 was a "Eugénie Vanilla" and it was SO GOOD! I can't wait to see what other treats are in store!
Happy adventing!
